Trek Overview
The Lord Curzon Trail Trek, popularly known as the Kuari Pass Trek, is one of the most spectacular and rewarding trekking experiences in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Named after Lord Curzon, the former Viceroy of India who traversed this route in the early 20th century, the trail offers an exceptional blend of natural beauty, adventure, and breathtaking Himalayan panoramas.
Beginning from the historic mountain town of Joshimath, the trek passes through charming Himalayan villages, dense oak and rhododendron forests, rolling alpine meadows, and pristine wilderness before reaching the magnificent Kuari Pass at an altitude of 3,650 metres. Throughout the journey, trekkers are treated to uninterrupted views of some of the most iconic peaks in the Indian Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Kamet, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Neelkanth, and Hathi-Ghoda.
Often referred to as the “Gateway to the Himalayas,” Kuari Pass is renowned for offering one of the finest mountain panoramas in India without requiring technical climbing skills. The trek combines moderate walking trails, comfortable camping experiences, and ever-changing landscapes, making it suitable for both novice trekkers and experienced hikers.
From the lush forests of Gulling and Khullara to the alpine meadows near Auli and the dramatic summit views from Kuari Pass, every day brings new scenery and unforgettable experiences.
